Privacy Policy

Waqt ("we", "our", or "the app") is an iOS application that helps Muslims pray on time by providing prayer time calculations and optional app-blocking features. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information Waqt accesses and how it is handled.

1. Data That Stays on Your Device

All personal data collected by Waqt is stored locally on your device using iOS built-in storage (UserDefaults and App Groups). We do not operate any servers, databases, or cloud infrastructure. Your data never leaves your device.

The following data is stored locally:

• Name — the name you enter during onboarding, used to personalise the app experience.
• Gender — whether you identify as "brother" or "sister", used to enable the Haidh Mode feature for sisters.
• Prayer goal — your selected motivation for using the app.
• Prayer log — a record of which prayers you have logged as prayed, skipped, or excused, including timestamps.
• Journal notes — optional personal reflections you write after prayers.
• Skip reasons — optional reasons you provide when skipping a prayer.
• App settings — your preferences for calculation method, madhab, block duration, notification timing, theme, and other configuration.

2. Location Data

Waqt requests access to your device's location to calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction for your area. Your location coordinates are:

• Used only on your device to compute prayer times and Qibla bearing.
• Stored locally so the app can refresh prayer times in the background.
• Never transmitted to any server, third party, or external service.

You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings. Without location, the app will not be able to calculate prayer times.

3. Screen Time & App Blocking

Waqt uses Apple's Screen Time API (FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettings frameworks) to block selected apps during prayer times. This is an optional Premium feature.

• The list of apps you choose to block is stored locally using Apple's opaque token system. Waqt cannot see the names of your apps — only Apple-provided tokens are used.
• Blocking schedules are managed entirely on-device through Apple's system frameworks.
• No information about your app usage or blocked apps is collected or transmitted.

4. Subscriptions & Payments

Waqt offers optional Premium subscriptions managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information. All billing, receipts, and subscription management are handled by Apple. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles payment data.

5. Analytics & Tracking

Waqt does not include any analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, advertising identifiers, or third-party services. We do not track your behaviour, collect usage metrics, or build user profiles.

6. Third-Party Services

Waqt does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or SDKs beyond Apple's own frameworks (StoreKit, FamilyControls, CoreLocation, UserNotifications). No data is shared with any third party.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

• Prayer logs are automatically capped at 365 days of history.
• Deleting the Waqt app from your device permanently removes all locally stored data.
• There is no account to delete because no account is created.

8. Children's Privacy

Waqt does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app's Screen Time features require parental consent through Apple's FamilyControls framework.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
